About
Matilda is the story of an intelligent young girl, Matilda Wormwood, born into the wrong family. Her parents and brother just don't understand her and they don't want to try either. They treat her horribly, but one day she discovers that she has telekinetic powers (she can move objects with her mind) and decides to take beautiful revenge. Her powers come from the fact that she's a rather unhappy girl, her frustrations actually make her stronger. Her life becomes a bit worse when her father finally decides to send her to school (he never thought it important before), a school run by the terrible Miss Trunchbull. Trunchbull takes an immediate dislike to Matilda, but Matilda will not be pushed around. For her loving teacher, Miss Honey however, it's a different story and Matilda sets out to help her once and for all time. The story can be sad at times, but thankfully does have a happy ending (I'm just not telling!). The movie was released in 1996 and I think they did an excellent job at bringing the story to life on the big screen. As for the book, it's my favourite Roald Dahl book and I have loved it ever since I was a child. I identified a lot with Matilda (I loved books as much as she does) and so I've re-read the book a lot of times over the years. One of my best childhood memories, this book is a classic and a must read!
